Rick Lyons, VMD
Dr. Lyons’ love of animals began when he was young, as he grew up with a variety of pets – from dogs and cats to birds and lizards. His interest in science and veterinary medicine sparked when he worked as a veterinary technician through high school in New Jersey as well as during college at North Carolina State University, where he earned two Bachelor degrees, in Animal Science and in Poultry Science. He left the farm and traveled to the city to earn his doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed an internship in internal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine/critical care at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. Dr. Lyons joined the Garden Vet team in 2015. His professional interests include dentistry, geriatric patient management, and medical management of orthopedic disease.
In his spare time, Dr. Lyons enjoys seeing live music and building his vinyl collection, football, cooking, and spending time with his wife Evin, his one-eyed cat Lira and his dachshund Pringles.
